Castello Svevo, originally a Roman fortress was remodeled by the Normans. Frederick Ii used the Norman style for two towers. Later, bastions were added to the castle in 16th century.
Come to Via Appia or the Appian Way in Brindsi. Via Appia symbolizes the power of the republic. The road had a primary layer of cemented rocks and over that there were large rocks. There were pedestrian dirt paths and drainage ditches on both sides of the road. Around 250 BC the road was wide and reached Brindsi.
Chiesa di Santa Maria Casale in Brindsi is a unique structure built in Romanesque style of 14th century, Byzantine and Baroque style. The interior is outstanding with graceful arches, columns and glamorous mosaic.
Visit the port of Brindsi. The history of commerce in the port is of 2,800 years. Many travelers embark on their maiden voyages on the Adriatic Sea from here. There are several restaurants, travel agencies and cafes here.
In Taranto visit the Museo Nazionale Taranto, an archaeological museum, a storehouse of precious artifacts. The artifacts belong to the Greek and Roman era and there are items from the Middle Ages too. There is a collection of exquisite gold jewelry on display.
Some of the other attractions in Apulia are the Trulli of Alberobello, Grotte di Castellana, Tremiti Islands and other tourist spots.
