In 1982 UNESCO declared the Center of Florence as a World Heritage Site. The most popular site and the best example of architectural wonder in Florence is Santa Maria del Fiore, the domed cathedral. The Ponte Vecchio Bridge is a unique bridge in Florence. On its edges it holds many shops by stilts. There is the Vasari’s Elevated Corridor which links the Palazzo Pitti with Uffizi.

The Mausoleum of the Medici is on San Lorenzo. The Medici family was the most powerful family during the time period of 15th century to 18th century in Florence. The Uffizi Gallery is located nearby which has a vast and fine collection of arts.

Located at Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi is an important site in Florence. Dante was exiled from Uffizi in 1301. The event is commemorated by a plaque on one of the Uffizi walls.

Bonfire of the vanities was held here in 1497. The event is commemorated by a plaque in the plaza.

This was the place Michelangelo’s David was originally placed in 1504.

Bargello is a museum storing priceless arts of renowned sculptors like Michelangelo, Giambologna and Donatello.
