Venice, the “City of Light” is a beautiful city in northern Italy. Venice is a city of several islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the waters of Adriatic Sea. Plan a tour to this city of canals.

Campo San Polo is a large campo. In 1493 the area was paved. This area has a fountain in the middle. This area carries many stories of mass sermons, masked balls and bullfights. It is one of the best carnival venues in Venice. It is the place where the assassination of Lorenzino de Medici took place in 1548. Palazzo Corner Mocenigo, Palazzo Dona, Palazzo Soranzo, Palazzo Tiepolo and Church of San Polo are some of the edifices standing here.
Doge’s Palace, a gothic palace which was reconstructed during 9th century is an architectural wonder to visit in Venice.Filippo Calendario was the designer of the palace. The Porta della Carta which is a colossal gate in gothic style adorning the Piazzetta side was created by Bartolomeo Bon and Giovanni. The Grand Council Chamber is the most beautiful room in the palace. The walls of the room are adorned with portraits of Doges. This room contains the “Vast Paradise” by tintoretto. This painting is the biggest canvas painting in the world. Sala dello Scrutinio is also a beautiful room. This room contains ‘Lepanto’ by Andrea Vicentino.
Basilica di San Marco is a beautiful and popular church in Venice of Byzantine architecture with gilded mosaic and lovely design. It is located on St Mark’s Square, adjacent to Doge’s Palace. Since 1807 it is the seat of Roman Archdiocese of Venice and Patriarch of Venice. The nickname of the church is “church of gold” because of its opulence and powerful status.
Some of the other attractions in Venice are Rialto Bridge, San Servolo, Accademia, Palazzo Malipiero and other wonders.
